Rules for Pilots of Recreational Drones

If you are flying your drone not for commercial purposes, you have to keep in mind a couple of things:

  • Before taking off, check if it is allowed to fly there using Drone Pilot app
  • Follow basic safety rules published by CAA
  • VLOS - you must be able to see your drone all the time
  • Do NOT fly closer than 50 meters from people and buildings
  • You must have a private liability coverage.
  • You are not allowed to fly over an altitude of 150 meters unless authorised
  • Your drone cannot weigh more than 25 kg
  • It is not allowed to fly above crowds, industrial sites, urban areas and other restricted areas
Rules for Pilots of Professional Drones

If you are flying your drone for commercial purposes, you have to keep in mind a couple of things:

  • Before taking off, check if it is allowed to fly there using Drone Pilot app
  • You must be registered nationally
  • Identify your drone with a visible number plate
  • Pre-flight inspection is mandatory
  • You have National Drone Pilot Certificate
  • You have liability coverage up to EUR 1 m
  • It is not allowed to operate a drone heavier than 25 kg
  • You are not allowed to fly over an altitude of 150 meters unless authorised
